Our coalition spans a wide spectrum — from parents who simply want basic safety guardrails for their children, to researchers and advocates who believe the risks demand far more. We come from different places. But we all agree: the industry cannot continue to expand without accountability. A TIME OUT is the responsible first step.

These are the principles we need to see to consider supporting data center and AI expansion:
Protect Children
Protect children from manipulative AI products and equip parents to help children navigate an AI-shaped world safely.
Center Frontline Communities
Center frontline communities in every siting decision — with binding protections, affirmative benefits, and the right to say no.
Binding Environmental Standards
Operate data centers under binding lifecycle environmental standards aligned with science-based climate and water targets.
Prevent Discriminatory Outcomes
Prevent discriminatory outcomes from automated systems and guarantee the right to human review of consequential decisions.
Privacy as a Fundamental Right
Treat privacy as a fundamental right and bar the use of AI for mass civilian surveillance.
No Autonomous Weapons
Prohibit the use of AI infrastructure for weapons development, for the evasion of legal safeguards, or for lethal autonomous action without meaningful human control.
Protect Ratepayers & Workers
Protect ratepayers, taxpayers, and workers — both unionized and non-union — from absorbing the costs and disruptions of an unaccountable AI build-out.
Preserve Public Information Integrity
Preserve the integrity of public information and protect people from synthetic impersonation.
Independent Verification
Make compliance verifiable by independent third parties — not by self-reporting alone.
